Media Studies

The Media Department has 4 dedicated and enthusiastic teachers who are committed to the achievement of all its students. The teachers deliver various activities preparing the students for their independent Controlled Assessment investigations, productions and examinations. This is a course which encourages students to prepare for a creative and exciting career in the world of competitive entertainment and media industries.

The Curriculum

Key Stage 4

Students in Year 10 and 11 receive five one hour lessons a fortnight. The two year GCSE course is with the WJEC examination board. The qualification for Media Studies is comprised of 40% examination and 60% controlled assessment. Students’ progress is tracked and monitored in accordance with agreed procedure. Students complete a range of introductory units and Controlled Assessment pieces which are specified by the exam board. To prepare students for their final GCSE examinations at the end of Year 11, all students will complete internal examinations in Year 10 and mock examinations in Year 11.

If you have any queries concerning the Media Studies course please contact your child’s teacher.
