Training for staff

What staff training is in place to support children and young people with SEND?

In order to maintain and develop the quality of teaching and provision to respond to the strengths and needs of all students, all staff are encouraged to undertake training and development around SEND. In the case of a student having needs that the staff are likely to be unfamiliar with, in-school training will be provided by the SENDCo or relevant specialists to ensure that every one is confident to meet the student's needs. All teachers and support staff undertake induction on taking up a post and this includes a meeting with the SENDCo to explain the systems and structures in place around the school’s SEND provision and practice and to discuss the needs of individual students. The school’s SENDCo attends the Local Authority's SENDCo network meetings in order to keep up to date with local and national updates in SEND.
