The Turnsteads Estate is directly opposite the college and many of our
students and staff travel through the estate on their journey to and
from the college. Around ten years ago, residents on the estate were
worried about an increase in litter and undesirable behaviour as people
passed through the estate. The residents approached the problems in a
positive fashion and, through close links with the college, saw huge
improvements in a relatively short space of time. Now, long after these
problems have been solved, the Residents Association and college
continue to work in close partnership wherever possible, to the benefit
of both parties.
In the last couple of years, the population of
the estate has changed quite dramatically and, as a result, the Tenants
and Residents Association is going through a process of reformation.
Existing members of the TRA will attest to the huge benefits to tenants
and residents of being involved in the TRA and would encourage new and
old residents of the estate to get involved.
