Whitcliffe Karting Team through to National Final

Whitcliffe Mounts first ever karting team have qualified for the final of the British Schools Karting Championships and will bid to become the most successful sports team in the schools history.

The team, consisting of Ryan Fletcher, Jack France and Jordan Fletcher, dominated both the regional qualifying rounds and the North of England finals to progress to the national final to be held at the Daytona Circuit in Milton Keynes on Sunday 29th March.

The regional rounds were held at numerous race tracks around Yorkshire and Humberside, and the team won every single race at their qualifying event at Raceway Karting in Pontefract.

The North of England final was held at the Three Sisters Circuit in Wigan, Lancashire and consisted of 30 teams. In Whitcliffe’s six races, the teams finishing positions were 1st, 1st, 1st, 3rd, 3rd and 4th . This was enough to finish 1st overall and the team will go to the national finals confident of becoming British Champions.

Well done and good luck to the lads in the final. Special thanks should go to Andrew Hirst from Raceway Karting Circuit in Pontefract who has provided the team with extra opportunities for practice and to Mr Fletcher for providing transport for the team.
