Citizenship

Citizenship is taught to all students from years 9 to 11 who follow a GCSE Short Course from the start of year 9.  Students have one lesson a fortnight in year 9 and one a week in year 10 and 11.

The GCSE short course concentrates on aspects of life in modern Britain.  It looks at crime and the criminal justice system, politics, human rights and Britain's relationship with Europe and the wider world amongst other topics.

The area of personal responsibility is explored through a work experience placement undertaken in year 10 and is written up as a coursework project.
