BTEC First in Music (2 or 4 GCSE)
Pupils in years 10 and 11 study a variety of topics including:

  • Composition
  • Solo Performance
  • Ensemble Performance
  • Sequencing
  • Recording Techniques
  • The Music Industry

BTEC First in Performing Arts (2 or 4 GCSE)
Pupils in years 10 and 11 study a variety of topics focusing on areas such as:

  • Dance
  • Performance (singing or instrumental)
  • Drama
  • The Music Industry


Extra Curricular:

Soul Band
The soul band rehearses every Monday after school and contains students from years 10-13. Pupils perform popular cover-versions including 'Mustang Sally;, 'Let Me Entertain You', 'Walking On Sunshine' ....
The WMS soul band are popular in the area performing many times in the year, at school an external events.

The soul band is currently in preparations for the upcoming tour of Italy at Easter.

 
Vocal Group: Perfect Pitch
Perfect Pitch were formed in 2008 and rehearse every Tuesday after school. The choir includes pupils from all year groups and every pupil is welcome to join. Perfect Pitch perform a variety of songs from different musicals. Perfect Pitch perform regular

In preparation for the upcoming Italy tour, the choir have been rehearsing songs from musicals such as 'Les Miserables' and 'Wicked'.


Musical/Show (Annual)
WMS Music/Performing Arts/Drama department present a musical once a year. Rehearsals start in the first weeks of September and the show is performed in February. Recent shows include 'Grease', 'Fame' and 'Return to the Forbidden Planet'.

This year WMS will be presenting 'West Side Story'. WMS musicals sell out quickly so make sure you get your tickets early.
Whitcliffe's Got Talent (Annual)


Whitcliffe's Got Talent
Each year pupils compete to be the winner of 'Whitcliffe's Got Talent'. Students place a round of auditions and the best acts get through to the live show in-front of a 'sell-out crowd' and a formidable panel of judges!

Auditions usually start in June and the event takes place in early July. Everyone is invited to enter including a variety of staff performances!

Kirklee's Music Centre/Service provide instrumental lessons in school, instruments include;
