Post-16 consultation regarding the future of Whitcliffe Mount Sixth Form

You have reached an important stage in your education and career development. The compulsory stage of your education is over and you are now considering the choices which will help to shape the sort of adult you become.

You will find a warm and friendly welcome in the sixth form at Whitcliffe Mount and a range of course opportunities. Our aim is to help you to develop your skills and interests and we believe that this is best done by providing advice, support and challenging you to think critically and independently about the world around you.

Working together we will encourage you to take responsibility for your learning, develop good study skills and grow in confidence. Many students underestimate their own potential and with the right approach and encouragement you have the prospect to achieve and create a bright future for yourself.

Whitcliffe Mount sixth form is growing and moving from strength to strength. In recent years we have:

• Introduced a bridging course to offer further work in key skills, whilst developing the potential for future Advanced study
• Improved results on academic and vocational courses
• Doubled the size of the Learning Resource Centre and added 6 new ICT suites
• Opened a new post-16 centre with social area
• Provided opportunities to participate in work shadowing, community service, enterprise activities, sport, music and drama
• Offer level 2 (GCSE/Btec) courses as well as level 3 (AS/A level) courses.

The sixth form is a new experience for you and the school is committed to helping you to organise and take responsibility for your own study time whilst also managing your social time. Whether you are a student at Whitcliffe Mount or currently studying elsewhere we look forward to you joining our sixth form and pride ourselves on offering high quality teaching and learning opportunities combined with a caring approach to student welfare.
