Sociology

Brief Outline

Sociology is a subject that students can relate to.  It's relevant to their everyday life - it is about society, people and their behaviour.  It allows us to question the key institutions that make society work in a critical manner, thereby helping us to understand the world in which we live.  At AS candidates acquire knowledge of contemporary social processes and social changes and are encouraged to develop their own sociological awareness through active engagement with the developing world.  At A2 this is built upon.  A wide range of topics e.g. families and households, mass media , education and crime and deviance are studied

Methods of Teaching

Lecutures, debates, discussion, note taking research using current materials, presentations and films/ DVD's / Videos.
