How will we monitor the progress of a child with additional needs?
The progress of students involved in specific interventions is monitored in a range of ways e.g. observations, tests, discussions with the child and parents/carers as appropriate. Progress will also be discussed with parents/carers at an annual parents’ evening. Students with a Statement of SEND or EHC Plan will also have an annual review meeting with the SENDCo, to which parents/carers are invited, along with any relevant outside agencies. This will be reviewed on a least two further occasions throughout the academic year. An emergency review can be called at any point. Students at K level support with a My Support Plan in place will be closely monitored throughout the year and will be reviewed on at least two occasions. Close monitoring enables us to put effective provision in place.
If you have any concerns about your child’s progress in a specific subject, you should always contact the subject teacher in the first instance. You are also welcome to contact the SENDCo with any concerns you may have about the progress and support for your child.
