A Teaching School Alliance For Yorkshire And The Humber
Whitcliffe Mount School is proud to be a member of the Green Light Teaching School Alliance: a partnership of schools and institutions in Yorkshire. The lead schools in the alliance - Shelley College and Heaton Avenue Primary School - are both designated as Teaching Schools. The alliance's passion is to ensure the children and young people in our schools achieve their personal best.
Our schools encompass the full age range from 3 to 18 and operates in a wide range of settings, including rural and urban, with a diverse range of student intakes. All of our partners are judged to be at least ‘good’ by OFSTED and many are ‘outstanding’. Green Light Teaching School Alliance has been formed to allow our partner schools to share skills, experience, talent and capacity to help improve the learning and achievement of young people across the region and beyond.
Across our partner schools there are Subject Experts, Specialist Leaders of Education, Excellent Practitioners, trained Coaches and Mentors, as well as Outstanding Leaders offering support and training. We are offering an opportunity of a career development programme that could take teachers on a journey from trainee to senior leader and beyond.
The Gorse SCITT
Whitcliffe Mount is a partner in The Gorse SCITT, formerly called The Leeds Teaching School Alliance. Other partners are The Morley Academy, The Farnley Academy, The Ruth Gorse Academy, Cockburn School, Elliot Hudson College and The Bruntcliffe Academy. As a partner, we help to offer a fresh and dynamic route into teaching where we award Qualified Teacher Status made up to a complete PGCE via the Masters level work conferred by Sheffield Hallam University.
The SCITT has a successful track record of developing outstanding secondary school teachers. We have excellent rates of employability of our graduates both within our alliance schools and also elsewhere in the Yorkshire region and beyond. Whitcliffe Mount is proud to have employed a number of these graduates, including Alex Nightingale who was Trainee of the Year in our region.
All of the schools in this partnership have a track record of outstanding and transformational provision for young people and a strong commitment to developing outstanding future teaching professionals. The school placements offer experience of the real world of education in schools where excellence is modelled and supported. This ensures a solid foundation for development towards Qualified Teacher Status and a successful teaching career.
Across the partner schools there are many Subject Experts, Specialist Leaders of Education, Advanced Skills Teachers, Trained Coaches, Mentors and Outstanding Leaders to support and guide trainees through their first year in teaching.
